Fractus (Broken), Mirror
2nd Year Graduate
MEMORIAM IN EA IS A COLLECTION OF OBJECTS THAT EXISTS IN THE LIFE INVISIBLY (EVERYDAY), BUT CREATES STRONG PRESENCE FOR REMINDING.
In Latin, Memento Mori means, “Remember that you must die!” Today, most of us are aware of death because it is depressing. Inversely and positively, death is a motivator to urge us to live significantly. Memoriam In Ea is a collection of objects that guide us to be thoughtful and invisibly remind us to live a meaningful and virtuous life. Memoriam In Ea means “Reminder Objects” in Latin. These objects create unpleasant experience, which is amplified to compel users to meditate on things that are being gradually forgotten. The unpleasant experience may cause users to sigh emotionally and physically. However, what does occupy a larger balance is how people re-dedicate themselves after the sigh. What I expect to see is people are thankful to the objects and discard their unpleasant experience to maintain it in daily life.
Fractus is a table mirror that consists of a gradient cracked mirror and a lighting source.
We are judging others, blame others, misunderstanding others, and angry with others. But these problems may be caused by you. Fractus is a reminder of self-awareness that compels viewers to have a clear perception of themselves. The lights on the cracked surface creates broken reflection to compel users to reveal the unaware part of themselves. Viewers can use the unbroken part as a normal mirror.
